The design solution redefines the orientation and circulation of the building by moving the main entrance so it addresses the adjacent Reading station. A new reception and meeting area welcomes visitors into the building. The building’s street presence has also been improved by the introduction of ground floor retail units along Forbury Road, the main access into central Reading.

The vision is to become one of the UK’s top designer outlet centres and for it to act as a catalyst for further investment into the region. It is expected to employ up to 1000 people in phase 1 and an extra 500 in phase 2, which the developers believe will be a positive benefit to the neighbourhood and wider community.
Thames Tower

The redevelopment of this tired 1970s building next to Reading station has created an elegant new landmark for the town centre. We stripped Thames Tower back to its frame, added four storeys and squared off the chamfered corners, a technically challenging process which required the integration of architecture and structural engineering design.
