What is Bottll?
Bottll is - the social podcasting app!
And it is here to keep the podcast conversation going!
Problem
There are many podcast platforms out there and most offer the same system, a podcast is posted and that's the end of it. What if the conversation could continue after the original post? What if the creator adds more afterwards? What if collaborators add more afterwards? This could open new possibilities! The conversation keeps going!
Challenge
Create a new podcast platform where creators and even listeners can continue the conversation. The discussion doesn't end after the podcast is posted, it's just the beginning!

Goals
Hitting up live podcast events or meetups to rub shoulders with fellow listeners and hosts.
Getting chatty with podcast creators on social media or in those online hangouts where fans gather.
Jumping into listener surveys and feedback sessions to have my say in shaping the content I adore.
Exploring any chances to team up with podcast hosts or drop my wisdom as a guest on episodes that match my vibe.
Frustrations
Wants meaningful contacts with podcast creatorss and fellow listeners.
Unable to discuss podcasts with fellow listeners and their creators, without going to another platform
Podcast discussionss on other platforms can easily be derailed.
Devolopment
As with most apps, the original idea evolves through multiple iterations informed by user research and feedback.
There were 3 major pivots/iterations
The one about mini podcasts
The one that is very social
The one where the conversation never ends!
01
The original concept played with the idea of a "message in a bottle" thrown out to sea for others to discover.
That is where the name 'BOTTLL' came from, and the feed was in turn called the 'sea'
And like a message in a bottle, the message is short
Sketches
With this, I sketched out the idea.
Keeping the requirements, research and user persona in mind.

We built prototypes and a mock app for early user testing and Y-combinator class 2018. The mock app was created on Swift

Following user feedback, we redeveloped the design.
We changed the flow of creating a podcast
added contributors
improved the look of the home/feed page
amongst other changes.

And thus, a new user flow was born
